DC area RPCVs: Help out at First Annual Nepalese Summer Fest

Namaste Nepal RPCVs!

There is an exciting opportunity coming up for you all to reconnect or maintain your connections with the Nepalese community right here in America over Memorial Day weekend 2012.  The First Annual Nepalese SummerFest will be held at the Sheraton Premier at Tyson’s Corner in Virginia from May 25-28 (May 25 and 28 are each half days.)  Briefly, the SummerFest capitalizes on Nepalese heritage, culture, and the “ever-evolving lifestyle” in America and Canada.  For more information about the event, please visit http://www.nepalesesummerfest.com/

A close friend of mine, who is organizing the event, asked if I would host a Peace Corps booth in order to highlight the former (and hopefully future) Peace Corps presence in Nepal.  Always keeping a Third Goal opportunity in mind, I am excited about this opportunity.  There are expected to be anywhere from 2,000 – 3,000 attendees!  This is why I’d like some help.  I already have planned to display 2-3 large color PSA and “Ask Me” posters; show looping photos/videos from the Peace Corps promotional DVD on a large screen; pass out to those interested Peace Corps stickers, bookmarks, sector-specific informational sheets, fact sheet, and anything else I can get my hands on.  And of course, I’ll be talking about my Peace Corps experience, Peace Corps in general, and answering any questions I can (referring everyone to the PC website if I can’t.)  YOUR stories will help enrich the conversation especially.

If you’d like to reconnect/maintain connections with the Nepalese community and/or are interested in representing Peace Corps in a large-scale Third Goal activity, please email me at brouilletej @ gmail. com

Thank you,
