U.N. Warns of Nepal Refugee Crisis

UPI, April 18, 2005 KATMANDU, Nepal — A senior U.N. official investigating internal refugees in Nepal has called for preventative action to avoid a humanitarian crisis in the country. Dennis McNamara, advisor to the United Nations’ chief of humanitarian affairs, specializes in internally displaced people who have been driven from their homes by conflict. He says the plight of such refugees in Nepal should warrant the same attention by the United Nations as Sudan, Colombia or Somalia, the BBC reports.
