Nepali-Bhutanese Mt. Monadnock Trip 2010

On October 4 , 2010 we took an awesome trip to Mount Monadnock in New Hampshire. There were about 64 of us, Nepal-Bhutanese and American friends from Providence, RI + our African bai Omar. It was a perfect day. Sunshine, 50-60 degree temps and clear skies. Almost all of us made it to the top. It was a tough hike but luckily we had a case of Orange Crush to quench our thirst. You gotta love these Nepalis – showing up to climb a 3000′ mountain in either flip flops and t-shirts or dress-pants and sport-coats, with dal bhaat for lunch but no water for the climb! We had a great time and everyone made it back.

Thanks to Friends of Nepal and the International Institute of Rhode Island for helping to finance this great outing! Thanks to Ram Tiwari for organizing his community so effectively, and to Val Stori and Doug and my brother Jacob for helping lead the trip. Definitely this will be the first of an annual trip.
